Series 159 of record group 58-17 consists of the route and field notes of Clare and Roscommon State Road (established by Public Act 480 of 1871) as surveyed in 1872 by I.E. Arnold, and originally collected by the Michigan Lands Division. The road commences at Sec. 35 of T.17 N., R.4 W. (village of Clare, in Clare County) and runs to T.22 N., R.3 W. (Roscommon County). The notes include information on timber, soil, lakes, streams, trees, and burned-over areas. Each piece of the collection is 15" x 17" in size.
